New Same Day Shipping Policy

We have a new cut-off policy for Same Day Shipping after receipt of payment, which is 12:00 PM EST. We’ve never had a cut-off and just went with the flow, but this wasn’t working out very well as of late. We hope you can understand the need for this time. Being EST we are often 3 hours ahead of our customers, & taking orders too late makes for shipping on time super hectic. We may have to modify this, but we’ll see how it goes!

In terms of ‘receipt of payment’, this can mean once you’ve made a payment using any of the Alternative Payment Options For Botanical Specimen & then immediately following up with your confirmation email to me; if using the e-check, once our processor has determined that your e-check is good to go and has no issues. For the latter, I (and you) will get an email stating such, but this sometimes happens in the afternoon if you’ve placed an order that day; if you’d placed your order the afternoon or night before, we usually get this email the following morning, but not always. And it can be slower on Fridays & Mondays, and just before/after holidays.

If we have a good history and have had several transactions, we can likely go ahead and ship your order before getting this verification; however, if we have a little history but you’ve not shopped with us for a long long time, we will likely have to wait until we do get this verification, & once we have a good rapport we can likely ship out before getting the verification. There is sometimes no rhyme nor reason as to when the verification is complete; it all has to do with how busy the processor is and when you order (again, it is usually slower around the weekends and holidays due to the processor and banks being closed). If you are brand new and we have no history, it is likely we will have to wait until the e-check clears through our bank before we can ship (this typically takes 1-2 business days but can take a bit longer, again depending upon weekends & holidays).

If you are paying via personal check, the same rules will apply as above (though a bit different). If we have an ongoing and good history, we will send your order out immediately once you email me to let me know you will be paying this way. If not, we will have to wait until we receive the check & it clears through our bank, again until we have a good rapport. For personal checks, we always suggest sending them out using 1st class or priority mail (priority will get it to us quicker), but in either case it’s good to have that tracking number should the check get lost in the mail. It is rare for snail mail to get lost, but it can happen, and we cannot be held responsible for any lost checks.

So again, we are trying this new cut-off time, and any orders placed and payments received by 12:00 pm EST will go out the same day (barring any shipping delays, acts of god such as printers exploding, etc). We ALWAYS recommend ordering as early as is possible, 2 days before you’d like your order to ship is when we would suggest at the least.. not just for any of the above scenarios, but also for any USPS snafus (which have been rare as of late, but can still happen anytime). So it’s just good to be prepared, and we wanted to give you this heads up!

We’ve unfortunately had to make the decision to charge a fee for using our e-checking processor. Their fees for us have always been high, but they are getting outrageous. However, there are other methods of payment if you do not wish to pay the new processing fee (& more below on these options).

We know many of you have come to rely on the e-check, so we really want to apologize for this added expense, but at this point we have no choice. The fee for using it is 10% of the order total (as you will see in checkout when clicking the e-check form of payment). And this is less than half of the fees they charge us per check, so we have made it as low as we possibly can.

As said above, we have added other methods of payment, going back now several months. They are called ‘Alternative Payment Options For Botanical Specimen Only’ (as only leaf members can see and use these options). There is a note next to this one about them. If you are interested in using them, you can find what they are along with their instructions under this news section, under the title ‘Payment Methods’ (you will see it is a link, and it will take you to a new tab or window). The direct link for that page is:

We just wanted to notify on this page anyone who does not know about these other options, again if you’ve been using the e-check but do not wish to pay the new fee. And as you will see if you do read about them, we are planning on adding more options as soon as we are able (and this includes sending personal checks, which can be done now.. we just have yet to list ‘Hard Checks’ in the Alternative Payment Options. So if you are interested in paying this way, please contact me directly and I will be happy to explain how to proceed:)

Again we really apologize for this fee; however it has become a necessity. But luckily we do have the other forms of payment if you’d rather go that route. And we thank you as always for your understanding as we navigate through this karazy time in the industry!
